Baby lizard found in houseplant. What to feed it?
Found a baby lizard (possibly just hatched) in a houseplant. Can’t identify it but it’s definitely not native to these parts (North East US). Best way to care for/feed it? We’ve already set him up with moist soil, plants, logs, rocks and a pool of water. Added some soil from the compost heap to his makeshift home, hoping that he’d eat some baby worms. Also added a few dead bugs. Hoping he/she is tropical as opposed to desert. Any other advice?

u could go buy or order some mealworms? realyl tiny and if they look to big cut them in half or fruit flys? i read in my anole lizard book thingy that they like to catch their own pray so mabey some live crickets really tiny would be kool other then that sounds like its got a sweet home
good luck did u name it lol?
Wingless Fruit Flies, Small Mealworms, or 1 Week Old crickets can all be bought at you local petsmart/petco and are suitable for most wild lizards you will find. Chances are it’s either an Eastern Fence Lizard or an Eastern Alligator Lizard
If you decide to raise it, you can start getting biger meal worms/crickets as the lizard gets bigger. Once you find out what species it is, this is a great site to ask questions/find answers. http://www.repticzone.com

That is so cute! Sounds like you’ve got it pretty much covered. I don’t advise feeding it dead bugs- they could have died from fertilizer or something else you don’t want your lizard eating.
Skip on down to the pet store. They should be able to tell you what kind of lizard you have and what to feed it
