Is there a general homemade mixture concoction for spraying almost any plant to combat garden pests?
Yes, have a problem w/’something’ eating leaves of roses, zinnia’s, bell pepper plants in my garden.
Someone had said water, soap n oil mixture works for roses, is this effective for the other plants as well?
yep!.dish soap and water mixture, kills aphids. so why not other bugs
Dish soap and garlic juice works well.
try one table spoon of Murphy’s oil soap and one tablespoon of lemon scented dish soap to a full spray bottle of water, another mixture to get rid of bugs on plants is an onion two jalapeno peppers and a head of garlic mix in a blender with a quart of water , then strain it and pour into a spray bottle. Alternate between both of these sprays and it will cure most any problem and will not harm plants.
A better spray for roses uses tomato leaves. Make a solution of tomato leaves in your vegetable juicer, add 4-5 pints of water, and one tablespoon of cornstarch. Strain. Spray this on your roses.
For your other pests, try a garlic spray. Chop a few cloves and add them to a quart of water (better if you can mix in a blender). Let the solution sit for several hours, then strain through a cheescloth before spraying. Lots of pests do not like this, but on the other hand, your roses may not smell as nice either.
YES THAT MIXTURE IS OK. WHAT I LIKE AND USE IS A MIX OF WATER, DISH SOAP GARLICJUICE AND CYENNE PEPPER. NO OIL TO BLOCK THE PLANTS PORES THE LEAVES HAVE TO BREATH. THIS MIX EITHER KILLS THE BUGS OR SENDS THEM RUNNING.I USE IT ON ALL MY PLANTSAND VEGGYS. BY THE WAY OIL AND WATER DON’T MIX. HOPES THIS HELPS!
Well I think you are getting beetles. that eat holes in leaves.
That is hard to control organically, because beetles stay under the ground were it is cool all day and come out as dusk to feed. That means that your home made spray is dried up and there is no residuals effect for the home made stuff.
So when the beetles come out at night there is nothing to stop them from eating.
My suggestion is to go on line to a University local to your home. Most of the Universities have some kind of Horticultural program and can guide you in the right direction about what type of beetles you have and how to kill their grubs while the grubs live in the lawn,and before they pupate into beetles that destroy your crops!
If you had said any word other than EATING I would have said soap and water is fine, EATING HOLES changes the picture drastically

Dawn Dish soap and water sprayed on lawns not only helps them get greener but also stops bugs, especially ants. Not sure about other bugs but we had no problems with anything after that. Good luck
3 tbsp rubbing alcohol
1 tbsp liquid soup
water to make 1 qrt
spray.let stand 15 mins.then rinse w/ clean water.
